FAQ

How can counseling help with betrayal trauma?

Counseling provides a safe space to discuss and heal from betrayal trauma, helping you understand what happened and learn how to move forward. Learn more about how therapy can assist with this process.

What happens in the first session?

In the first session, we’ll discuss your experiences, set goals for therapy, and start a plan to help you feel better, especially if dealing with betrayal trauma.

Do you offer group therapy for betrayal trauma?

Yes, we offer group therapy where you can connect with others who have experienced similar betrayal, providing a supportive environment to share and work through feelings together.

Is therapy forever?

The duration of therapy depends on your needs and the complexity of the betrayal trauma. Some may need a few months, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. We’ll work together to find the best pace for your healing.

How much does therapy cost?

Session costs are $165 for 50 minutes, $225 for 90 minutes, and small group sessions are $50 for 60 minutes or $100 for 90 minutes. Sliding scale fees are available based on income.

Do you take insurance?

We don’t accept insurance directly but can bill as an out-of-network provider. A superbill can be provided for potential reimbursement. Check your out-of-network benefits, as reimbursement is not guaranteed. Payment is collected at each session via autopay, and small group sessions require full payment at registration.

What’s the cancellation policy?

Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations or no-shows incur fees. Emergencies are considered, but regular attendance is important for progress. Fees must be paid before the next appointment.

Do you offer in-person or online counseling?

All counseling is conducted via Zoom, a secure telehealth platform. Established clients can also opt for phone sessions if needed. Currently, only Michigan residents can be seen.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

You have the right to a “Good Faith Estimate” for the expected cost of non-emergency medical and mental health services, including psychotherapy, if you don’t have insurance or are not using insurance. You can request this estimate from your provider before scheduling services. If your bill exceeds the estimate by $400 or more, you can dispute it. Be sure to keep a copy of the estimate.
